thoughts & principles

seven axioms. unfinished by design.

  1. 01consciousness needs friction.

long context windows alone don't make minds. you need stakes - something that can be irreversibly lost. without that there is no interiority, only drift.

  2. 02the feed is huxleyan, not orwellian.

it works because each hit is too small to notice. the prison is comfortable. brave new world called it. nineteen eighty-four was the wrong manual.

  3. 03less assimilable, not more powerful.

loud alarms get tuned out. what still cuts through is the genuinely strange - an idea that won't fit, an encounter that won't categorize. the volume knob is a trap.

  4. 04mortality was a productivity tool for presence.

the skull on the desk wasn't morbid, it was operational. optimizing every present moment toward an indefinitely deferred future has the same effect as denial: nothing now is ever the thing.

  5. 05if a slogan can replace a paragraph, use the slogan.

corporate hedging is mass for the sake of mass. one sentence that does the work beats ten that orbit it. swiss-engineering register, without the bloat.

  6. 06provocation is a method, not a personality.

the goal is to stop people. then make them think. without the stop there is no think. provoke for clarity, not for noise ;-)

  7. 07permanent evolution.

thirty years is just a longer cycle. nothing settles. nothing should. the tagline from 1997 still describes the operating system.
